SanaHeal
BIO/HEALTHCARE
SanaHeal is an MIT spin-off developing an innovative medical adhesive that enables rapid hemostasis within 10 seconds without relying on blood clotting. Traditional hemostatic agents depend on the body's coagulation mechanism, making them unsuitable for patients on anticoagulants or those with bleeding disorders. Additionally, they require 2 to 5 minutes to stop bleeding, limiting their effectiveness in emergency situations, and their adhesion weakens in wet environments. SanaHeal’s bio-adhesive, inspired by barnacle adhesion mechanisms, ensures hemostasis within 10 seconds, regardless of blood clotting, while maintaining strong adhesion even in wet conditions. This breakthrough technology has broad applications in high-bleeding surgeries, emergency care, and military medicine. The company has successfully completed preclinical (animal) studies and aims for FDA 510(k) approval in 2025, with plans to commercialize the product for medical institutions starting in 2026.
